Circulation Map

Circulation MapWater is a unifying element throughout Paradise village. Using existing agricultural water rights and an estimated 40 million gallons of rainfall to be collected annually, water flows along the north south axis through the site.

Water is gathered into a series of seasonal ponds and filtering wetlands and then stored at the water tower at the sports plaza. From there it flows through the elder village creating c gurgling creek babbling brook enhancing the pedestrian experience as it flows through the linear park along Main Street. Finally Paradise creek collects at the reflecting pool and the fountains at the retail plaza, enhancing the plaza with the kinetic energy of the fountains and allowing different several different means of pedestrian interaction.

Paradise creek also serves an environmental function, gathering and filtering on site storm runoff, gathering in vernal pools that filter and slow the storm runoff, the water system will mimic the natural cycles that were once more common in the central valley. This water is used both to create habitat for wildlife and enhance the physical environment for humans. This water will also be used to irrigate the landscape, reducing the load on the civic water supply by an estimated 30%.
